Joseph Edward Callahan

Joseph E. Callahan, 85, of Nashua, NH and formerly of Reading, MA died Thursday, January 1, 2004 at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua. Mr. Callahan was born on July 30, 1918 in Boston, MA, son of the late Joseph and Edith (Magoon) Callahan. He was the husband of Anna (Pashco) Callahan. Mr. Callahan was employed in the marketing department of Getty Oil Company for 35 years. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U. S. Army as a combat medic, E.T.O. He was educated in Boston and Brookline, MA schools, including Boston University and Salem State College. Prior to his relocation to Nashua, he resided in Reading, MA for 50 years where he served as a town meeting member, election warden and in was involved in many parish council activities. He was devoted to the Boy Scout Organization for 50 years and also served as an executive board member of the Minuteman Council. Besides his wife of 58 years, his survivors include; a son, Dr. Philip Callahan of Elgin, AZ; a daughter and son-in-law, Paul and Joanne Hayden of Nashua; three grandchildren, Heather, Sean and Tracy; two great grandchildren, Alissa and Evan; and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, January 5, 2004 at 12:00 PM at the Cremation Society of New Hampshire, 243 Hanover Street in Manchester.
