Joseph Dombrowskas, 80, passed away peacefully with his daughters by his side on September 21, 2019 at High Pointe Hospice in Haverhill, Mass. He was born in New Britain, CT on June 18, 1939 to the late Joseph E. and Lillian Dombrauskas (Lange).
"Joe" attended Chamberlin School, Roosevelt Junior High and New Britain High School. Joe's first job was in a veterinarian's office assisting Dr. Stadler. Early on Joe worked for Pratt & Whitney and R.P. Alexander Co. earning the highest level in sales and winning a personal trip abroad to Norway, Sweden and Denmark. Joe then went on to work full-time in the Waterbury branch of Purolator/Loomis Armored. He then ventured into successful small business ownership of Post Sign Specialists in Naugatuck.
He is survived by two daughters, Donna Dombrauskas and Jo-Anne Dombrowskas of Derry, NH, and grandson Michael Joseph Giguere of Auburn Hills, MI. He is also survived by a step-son Jeff Steeves of Waterbury, two brothers, James Dombrauskas and his wife Lynn of New Hartford, Bruce Dombrauskas and his wife Silvia of Arizona (and their two children Jesse and Sara), many loving nieces and nephews, cousins, and his beloved dog Zeus. Joe was predeceased by a brother, Gerald "Big Jerry" Dombrow and predeceased by two sons Brian and Ronald Dombrowskas, who were always in his heart.
Joe was a great man, a kind, hard worker, loving father who always kept himself busy with many projects throughout his life. He built a home from the shell, remodeled many homes, built sheds and garages, helped his daughters with projects, and restored his beloved 48 Ford and 64 Chevy Impala. He could repair almost anything, was determined to finish his projects and had herculean will. All who knew Joe only had good things to say about him. Joe was deeply loved by his family and the children in the family loved their "Uncle Joey". All dogs loved him and were drawn to him, especially his daughter's dog, Poppy.
A graveside service and burial, welcome to all, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 27, 2019 at Fairview Cemetery, 120 Smalley St. New Britain.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children's, 516 Carew St, Springfield, MA 01104
The family would like to thank Merrimack Valley VNA and Hospice and the High Pointe House for the care they provided to Joe.
