Joseph Michael Hunt, 77, passed away at DHMC in Lebanon, NH on July 11, 2019 surrounded by his family.
Joseph was born in Mt. Clemens, MI on December 11,1941. He was the son of Joseph Ira Hunt and Betty Jane (McCoy) Hunt. He graduated from Mt. Clemens High School in 1960. From there, he went on to serve his country in the United States Navy in the SEABEE's as a First Class Electrician (CE1) for 17 years. After the military, he was employed as a Master Electrician in and around the Springfield area until he retired in 1999. He spent many years teaching Electrical Apprentice courses at VT Technical College with his longtime friend, John Foster.
Anyone who knew Joe, knew him as a proud, selfless, kind, patient person who lived a modest life, loved his close friends and family, loved teaching and was proud of his military career.
He is survived by his mother, Betty Jane (McCoy) Hunt; siblings Linda, Dan, David and Jim Hunt; his son, Donovan Hunt (Tracey Provencher); his daughter, Julie (Hunt) Lovell (Joshua Lovell); his grandchildren, Jaime Hunt, Taylor Preseau, Tori and Jakob Lovell, Erin and Liam Weeden.
Joe did not want a formal funeral. Instead, he asked to have his ashes spread at the North Springfield Dam in North Springfield, VT. We will honor his request on Saturday July 20, 2019 at 1:00 pm. We welcome anyone who would like to attend for final good-bye's and to share your stories and memories of time spent with him. This will be followed by a potluck reception at Rusty and Kathy Hill's home. All are welcomed to attend. Please contact Julie Lovell if you need the address or are able to bring a dish to share (603-276-9488 call or text).
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Green Beret Foundation at http://www.greenberetfoundation.org in honor of our dad and all US Veterans.
