Joseph J. Jelinek, 87, of Moultonboro died November 2, 2006 at Mountain View Nursing Home in Ossipee following a period of declining health. Mr. Jelinek was born on July 22, 1919 in Weid, Texas the son of Ladislav and Rose (Jakubik) Jelinek. He was a US Navy and Army veteran who served in World War II as well as the Korean War. After serving his country for 20 years in the military, Mr. Jelinek took his expertise to Raytheon where he was awarded the Civilian Award for his contributions on the radar tube. During his 18-years with Raytheon, Joseph worked as a field engineer, traveling the world. He retired in 1974 from Raytheon, and moved to Moultonboro as a full-time resident. In 1984, he began working with his wife, Yvonne at the Meredith Savings Bank where the couple worked in the operations department. He finally retired in 1995. He was a former trustee of the Moultonboro Public Library and member of the Lions Club where he was once the recipient of the Melvin Jones Award for outstanding service. He was a loving husband who cherished his family and will be remembered for his smile and for his warm and generous nature. Family members include; his wife of 64 years, Yvonne (Dry) Jelinek; three sons, Joseph Preston Jelinek of Oceanside, CA, Jeffrey Jelinek of Ossipee and Jonathan Jelinek of Barnstead; two daughters, Michaelle Beattie of Mariposa, CA and Jane Leonard of Alta Loma, CA; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. There will be a Memorial Mass on Monday, November 6th at 10:00 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Meredith with burial to follow in Shannon Cemetery in Moultonboro.
