Joseph Jacques Emile Lamy

Franklin, NH—Joseph Jacques Emile Lamy, 80, of Hampshire Drive, died unexpectedly on Friday, November 7 at Franklin Regional Hospital. Joe was born in Nashua, NH on March 30, 1928 to French-Canadian parents, Marie Louise (Hamel) and Joseph Emile and he spent his childhood in Somerville, MA, where he attended St. Joseph's school. He later moved to Wakefield, MA where he lived for more than forty-five years. After serving in the U.S. Navy on a destroyer out of Key West, Florida, he returned to Wakefield and married Lois Ardel Eales of Melrose to whom he was married for fifty-seven years. His life was marked by a commitment to youth recreation, especially baseball. He volunteered for many years for Babe Ruth Baseball, rising to positions of leadership. He served as the State Commissioner for New Hampshire and later as the New England Regional Commissioner and was a member of the International Board of Directors. His distinguished career in the organization was capped by his induction, last year, into the Babe Ruth Baseball Hall of Fame. Joe was a long-time employee of Watts Regulator--first in Lawrence, MA and later in Franklin, NH--as a traffic manager. He retired in 1993. He had a fondness for cigars and fishing, distaste for life's inefficiencies, and an abiding joy for the wonders of the Christmas season. He was a faithful spectator at his grandchildren's sporting events. Joe was predeceased by his brother Jean Pierre in 1950. In addition to his wife Lois, he is survived by five children: Cindy Cicciarella and her husband David of Ashland, MA; J. Pierre Lamy and his wife Gail McLaughlin of Brookfield, NH; Joyce Baca and her husband Michael of Franklin, NH; Andrea Amirault and her husband Steve of Concord, NH and Michele Barbrie of Concord, NH. His family also includes 16 grandchildren: David, Michael, Linda, and Steven Cicciarella of Ashland, MA; Nicole Lamy and her husband Michael Patti of Cambridge, MA; Michele, Eric, Kevin, Molly, and Brian Baca of Franklin; Steven, Trevor, and Cameron Amirault of Concord; Adam, Joseph, and Melissa Barbrie of Concord; and one great-grandchild, Calvin Patti of Cambridge, MA. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 2pm on Wednesday, November 12 at the chapel at New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Hwy Boscawen, NH, (603) 796-2026. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Joe's name to the Babe Ruth Scholarship Fund P.O. Box 5000 Trenton NJ 08638.
