He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Cynthia (Prystas) Royer and daughters Sue Rice and wife Ann Doherty of Rockland, Massachusetts; Donna Rogers and husband Jimmy Rogers of Seffner, Florida; Donna Bovin of New Port Richey, Florida; Connie Deshaies and husband Randy Deshaies of Manchester; and Celina Sands of Ocala, Florida. His sons include Gary Royer of San Bernadino, California; Scott Moore and his wife Maria Moore of Barefoot Bay, Florida; Brian Moore and his wife Crislen Grace Moore of Brandon, Florida; and Mark Durant of Contoocook.
He came from a family of 14 children and is also survived by siblings Theresa Bouchard, Betty Midura, Elaine McDonald, and Don Royer, all of Manchester; and Clifford Royer and wife Kathy Royer of Port Saint Lucie, Florida. He also had a total of 16 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Joseph was a devout Catholic and his faith played an instrumental role in his life. Recently he and his wife Cynthia had their 50 year marriage blessed at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Manchester.
Joseph served his country in the US Army during the Korean War and upon his return he relocated to Florida where he lived for 35 years. During that period, he was a self-employed entrepreneur earning his living as a handy-man and jack of all trades in Brandon, Florida. During his early retirement years, he and wife Cynthia left Florida to return to their roots in New Hampshire to be around various family members and his siblings.
He was a dedicated worker due to his enjoyment of his chosen profession and he had an excellent work ethic he learned from an early age. Yet he also enjoyed periods of relaxation. Because of his enjoyment of camping, he had several Recreational Vehicles and became a transiting snowbird for just over a decade traveling back and forth between New Hampshire and Florida and various camping destinations in between. He spent many summers in the White Mountains and frequented the local New Hampshire lakes when he wasn’t traveling south. He was known in the family as the great campfire master and enjoyed those gatherings the most as he tossed horseshoes with his wife Cindy at his side.
Joseph was blessed with a long prosperous life and he will be greatly missed by those he left behind.
Following his cremation, there will be a celebration of life Mass, the date and place yet to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to The New Hampshire Humane Society https://nhhumane.org/donate
