JOSEPH J. SAVARD
Joseph (John) Savard, 74, of Rochester NH, passed away after a courageous battle with lung cancer on Saturday, March 5th, 2016, at the Hyder Family Hospice House surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 4, 1941, in Troy NY, to the late Mr. & Mrs. Joseph and Marion (Dwyer) Savard.
He served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years where he served in the Vietnam and Korean Wars as well as residing in California, New Hampshire, Arkansas and England at different times during his military career. He also was a civilian contractor at the Groton and Portsmouth Naval Shipyards for an additional 20 years. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed collecting model cars and coins.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Barbara (Sherman), sister - Barbara (Savard) Aprahamian of Dracut, and brother - Howard Savard, of Lowell.
Joe is survived by his sister Joanne Freer of New Paltz, NY, two daughters, Donna McLoughlin and her husband Scott of Rochester and Laurie Robbins and her husband Michael of Chester, and his son, Michael Savard and his wife Melany, of Kaneohe HI. He was blessed with six wonderful grandchildren: Joshua and Paige Dubay, Hannah and Connor Robbins, Kayla Dumont, and Evan Trias as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
His family will be holding an Celebration of Life gathering at the Puritan Backroom Restaurant, 245 Hooksett Rd, Manchester, NH, on Sunday, March 13th from 1pm â 4pm, all are welcome. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joe's memory to Cocheco Valley Humane Society at www.cvhsonline.com
