Joseph Frank Siok, 83, passed away peacefully January 7, 2022 at Concord hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Stella (Prush) Siok, his wife Leslie, sister Barbara, and son Jeffrey.
“Joe” was born and grew up in Clinton, MA. He attended Clinton High School where he played trumpet in the marching band, was a lineman for the school football team, and met his future wife, Leslie, a drum major for the marching band.
After high school, he attended Worcester Junior College in Worcester, MA and then moved to Marietta, OH to finish his B.S. in Chemistry at Marietta College. He and Leslie married his last year in college and moved to New Martinsville, WV where he took his first job as a production chemist with Mobay Chemical Company and he and Leslie started raising their family of 5 children.
In 1972, Joe moved the family to Milford, DE and took a new job with the L. D. Caulk Company, from where he later retired as Director of Quality Assurance. In retirement, he enjoyed hunting and especially surf and deep-water fishing in the waters of the Delaware and Chesapeake bays. He and Leslie loved life and enjoyed traveling in their motor home visiting friends and family and enjoying the sites. While working and raising his family, Joe enjoyed gardening and ‘building things’. He collected and maintained a workshop full of tools, wood scraps, and ‘spare parts’ and was continually engaged in reworking the gardens, remodeling the family home, and in making sure to transfer the best of these skills and his work ethic to his sons and daughter. He is appreciated, dearly loved, and will be missed.
Joe is survived by his son Michael Siok and wife Jeanne of Weatherford, TX; son Stephan Siok and wife Christine of Camden, DE; daughter Deborah Smith and husband Dale of Stoddard, NH; son Daniel Siok and wife Pamela of Milford, DE; two sisters, Patricia Iacobucci of Clinton, MA and Geraldine Chu of Oxen Hill, MD; and 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. At Joe’s request, a private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
The Cremation Society of NH is assisting the family with arrangements. To view an online memorial or send messages of condolence to Joe’s children, please visit www.csnh.com. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions be made to the Salesian Missions, https://salesianmissions.org/act-now/give/give-now.
