Joseph Wollen, 82, a lifelong resident of Hudson died Tuesday, May 23, 2006, at Greenbriar Terrace Healthcare in Nashua. He was born on May 21, 1924 in Hudson, son of the late Michael and Mary (Kieras) Wollen. He was educated in local schools, and was a graduate of Nashua High School, class of 1943. Mr. Wollen owned and operated Lenny's Spa, a former downtown Nashua tavern, for 30 years before retiring in 1986. He was a World War II Army veteran and had been a communicant of the former St. Casmir church in Nashua. He was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, ice fishing, and the outdoors. He liked working with his hands and could often be found busy with home projects. He loved animals and took special joy in spending time with the family dogs. He was predeceased by two brothers, John Wollen and Michael Wollen. Family members include his wife of 50 years, Jennie (Ferus) Wollen; two daughters, Debbie Wollen of Hudson, and Karen Wollen of Goffstown, a grandson, Scott Murphy of Hudson, a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Nancy Wollen of Wallingford, Ct., a longtime friend June Charron of Nashua, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services are private.
