Josephine S. Danskin

Josephine (Jo) Smith Danskin, 94, died peacefully at Harborside Healthcare Nursing Home in Milford NH on October 7, 2007 She was born in Somerville, MA, the daughter of Earl and Ivanetta (Warren) Smith.She graduated from Wheelock College in Boston, and taught first grade in Needham MA until 1968. Jo and her husband, Richard A Danskin, Dick, were married in 1938. He passed away in 1999. They lived in Watertown, Malden, and Needham with their two sons. She was active in Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts. The family enjoyed the outdoors, camping and hiking together yearly in the Presidential Range in NH. After retirement Dick and Jo lived in Dunedin, Florida and West Yarmouth, MA. They were actively involved in church at The Kirk of Dunedin, FL, community outreach to elders through Meals on Wheels, and she volunteered at the local hospital. She also donated more than 60 gallons of blood during her life. Jo is survived by 2 sons, Bruce and wife Barbara of Pewaukee, Wisconsin, Keith and wife Sylvia of Amherst, NH, 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
