Josephine M. Greatchus

Loving wife, Mother and Grandmother October 6, 2002 - Josephine M. Greatchus, age 85, of 797 Turnpike Rd. New Ipswich, NH and formerly of Hudson, NH died peacefully at Monadnock Community Hospital, Peterborough, NH. Born in Nashua, NH, September 24, 1917, she was the daughter of Michael and Mary (Yesicavitch) Putis. She grew up in Hudson, NH, where she resided most of her life. Her husband of 59 years, Leo D. Greatchus, died January 8, 1999. She was employed by Bishop Guertin High School for more than 25 years. She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in Hudson, NH and an active member for many years of the Catholic Womens Guild, St. Casimirs Ladies Guild and the Navy Mothers Club. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, JoAnn and Thomas S. Pavelka of New Ipswich, NH, with whom she made her home. A son, Michael L. Greatchus, Sr. and fiance, Sandy Tobine of Danbury, NH. Two grandsons, Michael L. Greatchus, Jr. and partner, Frank Girard of Hudson, NH. and Matthew Greatchus and fiance, Melissa of Bristol, NH. A brother, John Putis of Fitchburg, MA. and a sister, Julia Karlonas of Nashua, NH. Also, nieces, nephews and friends. There will be no calling hours and a memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
