Joyce Morneau

Joyce Ann Morneau (Merrick), 82, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2021 in Rochester, New Hampshire, surrounded by her loving family.

Born August 17, 1938 in Salem, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late John and Georgette (Lake) Merrick.

Joyce grew up in Salem, MA and attended Salem High School, graduating in 1956.
After high school, Joyce was employed at Goldsmiths Newspaper Agency where she was a valued employee for many years. She also helped her husband run his business, J & G Appliance which they operated for 40+ years. Later in life, she took a job at Commercial Union Insurance where she worked until her retirement.

Joyce was married to Roland C. Morneau and enjoyed 59 years of marriage. Together they raised their 3 beautiful daughters, enjoyed many family camping trips, cross country skiing and traveling to their second home in Tamworth, NH. They also enjoyed visiting Virginia Beach for many years. Joyce and Roland always enjoyed the ocean and had owned several boats over the years, sailing and fishing in the Harbors near Salem, MA. Traveling out to Misery Island for a full day of fun was a repetitive thing. They also enjoyed their winter home in Brooksville, Florida for several years before settling permanently in Rochester, NH.

Joyce was a fabulous cook and enjoyed making delicious meals for her family and friends. She loved watching her cooking shows with Julia Child being one of her faves. She also loved golfing, playing cards with the "girls", and Mahjong. Joyce also was an avid reader, crossword puzzler and Scrabble player.

Joyce was most happy being surrounded by family and friends. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be missed, but will live on in our hearts forever.

Joyce was the loving and devoted wife of Roland C. Morneau of Rochester, NH, formerly of Salem, Massachusetts. They were married October 15, 1961. Joyce is survived by her husband, Roland; three daughters, Linda (Morneau) Spies and husband George of Wakefield, MA, Sharon (Morneau) Ell and husband Jeffrey of Wakefield, MA and Christina Morneau, of Salem, MA; eight grandchildren, Amber Hanson, Jonathan Dobrosielski, Evan Dobrosielski, Jared Spies, Ava Spies, Griffin Ell, Joshua Ell, and Sophie Ell as well as four great grandchildren Christopher Hanson Jr., Jamison Hanson-Armstrong, Delilah Hanson, and Stella Hanson. She was also the loving sister of Judith Jalbert of Rochester, NH.
