Joyce A. Terrill

December 22, 1944 — March 27, 2024

Epsom

Joyce Anne Terrill, age 79, died on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at the Epsom Healthcare Center in Epsom, NH, where she had lived during a period of failing health.

Joyce was born on December 22, 1944, in Claremont, NH, daughter of Clement Terrill and Helen (Crowley) Terrill. She was a long-time resident of Pittsfield, NH, and lived in Portsmouth, Ohio, before that.

After graduating from high school, Joyce went on to nursing school in Ohio. She was a veteran of the United States Army and had worked at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC. She was very proud of her service and could always be seen sporting a Vietnam Veteran hat.

She worked at the NH State Hospital in Concord, Globe in Pittsfield, and Shaker Village in Canterbury, NH where she helped take care of the last surviving Shakers in that community. She was also an accomplished blueberry picker at Norland Berries in Barnstead in the summer. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, picking berries of all sorts, baking delicious treats for others, and volunteering her time at food pantries and thrift shops in the area. In her youth she was in the marching band and played softball, a sport she continued to follow throughout her life. She played several instruments including the harmonica. She was a dedicated volunteer at the breakfasts for the Suncook Valley Rotary Balloon Festival and could sometimes be found at the Barnstead Farmer’s Market on Saturdays working under the Journey’s End Maple tent for her family selling maple syrup. She was the kind of person you were unlikely to forget.

She is predeceased by her parents, her sister Sandra and brother-in-law Roger “Pete” Boisvert, and many beloved pets.

She is survived by her nephew Martin Boisvert and his wife Amy of Pittsfield, NH; family member Anne Boisvert of Chichester, NH; great niece Rebecca Boisvert and great nephew Timothy Boisvert of Chichester, NH; siblings Alice Terrill LaBarre of Pittsburgh, PA; Barbara Stridde of Victoria, TX; Bill Terrill of Ludlow, VT; and Walter Nystrom.

A graveside service with military honors will be held on April 12, 2024, at 2pm at the NH State Veteran Cemetery in Boscawen, NH. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend.
