Singer-guitarist-song-writer Judy C (Judith Ann Cooper) was born on June 20, 1964 in New York City and passed away on August 3, 2013 in Ipswich, MA. Judy is survived by her mother and father Ruth and John Cooper, her sister Rachael and Rachael's children Ondine and Brent. Judy was greatly loved by her family, friends, students and parents of students, audiences, and those musicians with whom she performed on her gigs and on her CD "Judy C 444". She will be sorely missed. A memorial service is being held in the Universalist-Unitarian Church in Essex, MA, on Saturday, October 19, at 2:00 PM. Please come and remember her with us.
Judy graduated with the degree of Bachelor of Liberal Studies from Salem State College in 2004. She spent many happy years teaching guitar and particularly enjoyed seeing her students grow as musicians and performers. She also encouraged them to write their own songs. Judy's musical training began at home with music classes with her father and voice lessons with her mother. As time passed she also studied guitar, violin and drums. She produced her own CD of music that she composed and arranged for guitar, voice and other instruments. Her hobbies included antiquing, journaling, dancing and biking, but she also
treasured her cats.
