KELLEY, Julia Legsdin - of Sarasota, FL and Merrimack, NH, age 64, passed peacefully at her home in New Hampshire on July 28 with her husband of 31 years, Albert, at her side. She was born in St. James, Missouri, the daughter of the late Marga and Adolph Legsdin of Rolla, Missouri. In addition to her beloved and devoted husband, Albert; she is survived by her cherished sister, Ruth Legsdin Anderson and her husband, Gregory Anderson, and their children, Sara and Grant, all of Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA; her brother, J. Peter Legsdin and his wife, Marylou, of Springfield, Missouri; her brother, Charles Kroeber, of Vastra Frolunda, Sweden, and her brother-in-law, Daniel Harris, of Kansas City, Missouri. Her sister Marga Legsdin Harris predeceased her in 2006. She is also survived by her father-in-law, Albert F. Kelley, of Plymouth, MA; her brother-in-law, Thomas M. Kelley, of Plymouth, MA; and her sisters-in-law, Margaret K. Callahan, of Wolfeboro, NH; Virginia K. Cronin, of Swampscott, MA; Agnes K. Manning, of Newburyport, MA; Patricia K. Conway, of Osterville, MA, Kathryn K. Brasco, of Weston, MA and Maryellen Kelley of Truro, MA; 11 nieces, 5 nephews, 4 grandnieces and 1 grandnephew. Julia received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Missouri at Columbia with a major in medical technology and a minor in biology and earned numerous certifications in the medical technology field. During her long and distinguished career, she was a Technical Service Manager for Fisher Scientific International; the Medical Assistant Program Director for the Granite School District, Salt Lake City, Utah; an Instructor at Western Business College, Portland, Oregon; an Accreditation Specialist for the Association of Independent Colleges and Schools; an Instructor at the New York School for Medical and Dental Assistants; a Clinical Laboratory Manager at Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital in New York; and an Instructor, Clinical Hematology and Coagulation at Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons. For twenty-five years Julia volunteered as a certified family services specialist for the American Red Cross and most recently assisted in hurricane relief efforts in Port Charlotte, Florida, and aided Hurricane Katrina displaced victims in New Hampshire. She was a long-time member of the Hampshire Hills Club in Milford, New Hampshire. In 1992 she retired and began spending winters in Florida with her husband, where she was a member of the Longboat Key Club and supported the Ringling Museum and various performing arts organizations in Sarasota. She traveled extensively with her husband throughout the world. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 8, at the Bedford Village Inn, Bedford, New Hampshire, at 11:00 with a luncheon to follow. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Donations in her name may be made to The Perlman Music Program Winter Residency in Sarasota, Florida. This program each year offers professional training to 35 exceptionally talented young musicians. These musicians, ages 12 through 20, come from all over the world and are considered to be the next generation of concert artists. www.vwfoundation.org The Cremation Society of NH assisted with the arrangements.
