Kalyanasundaram Govindarajan, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and esteemed member of the community, peacefully passed away on March 29, 2024 after a courageous battle with interstitial lung disease. He was surrounded by his loving family during his final moments.
Kalyanasundaram is survived by his devoted wife, Vasanthakumari, his cherished daughter Priya, son-in-law Jayaraman, and adored grandsons Jagan and Akelan. He was a pillar of strength and support for his family, and his unconditional love and guidance will forever be treasured.
Kalyanasundaram was born on February 15, 1942, in Sitharkadu, Tamil Nadu, India. After completing his Associate's Degree in Engineering, Kalyanasundaram embarked on a fulfilling career as an engineer with the Indian Railways while also serving as a dedicated volunteer in the Indian Territorial Army and the civilian road safety initiative. Kalyanasundaram held a passion for helping local underprivileged children. He would voluntarily organize sports games and tournaments for children in impoverished areas of Chennai, India. In the evenings, after finishing work, he offered up his home to teach kids basic literacy. He would often buy books and school uniforms for those in need. Kalyanasundaram always encouraged those around him to speak their minds and give back to the community.
Above all, Kalyanasundaram's greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. His visits to the United States, starting in 2001 with the birth of his first grandson Jagan, were filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. He was happiest when he was with his family. In his free time, he enjoyed leisurely walks, tending to his vegetable garden, watching Western classic films, and volunteering.
Kalyanasundaram will always be remembered for his outgoing and talkative personality, warm heart, willingness to help, expansive wisdom and knowledge in any subject, and the joy he brought to everyone he met.
A service including Hindu last rites will be held on Monday, April 1st, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at The Cremation Society of New Hampshire, located at 243 Hanover Street in Manchester, NH. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend and celebrate his remarkable life.
