Karen L. Barnes Handler

November 4, 1940 — December 27, 2022

Windham, CT

Karen L. Barnes Handler passed on December 27, 2022 to join our "Angels" Marie, her youngest sister and her mother, F. Pauline Little, who predeceased her.

Karen graduated from Windham High School Class of 1955 and was a "Candy Striper" at New Britain Hospital in Connecticut. While being a mother of her two surviving children, she drove a school bus for the Town of Coventry, and was a teacher's aide at George Hersey Robertson School, Coventry. She then became a Nurse's Aide at Crestfield Convalescent Home in Manchester, CT where she met her late husband, Arnold L. Handler. After moving back from their home in Ocala, FL, she resided in Woodsville, NH where she volunteered numerous hours and days at the Horse Meadow Senior Center in Woodsville, NH. She then became ill and moved back to her home town. Karen overcame a great deal in her life and lived the best way she could. She adored her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren of which she always spoke of and possessed numerous photos. She will always be remembered for her contagious and "brighten the room" smile, her dry "Landeck Family" sense of humor, and her love for butterflies and red cardinals.

She leaves behind her best friend, confidant and loving sister P.D. Squazza and her husband Barry Squazza of Agawam, MA; her daughter, Darby Pollansky and her husband Steven Pollansky of Coventry, CT; her son, Lance Barnes of Woodsville, NH; her grandchildren Shannon, Kelly, Andrew, Anna and Kyle Pollansky; and her great grandchildren Chace, Kinsley, Skylar, Olivia and Lilianna.

Services will be private and at the convenience of her family. The Cremation Society of New Hampshire is assisting the family with arrangements. To view an online memorial, leave a message of condolence, or for more information please visit https://csnh.com/obituaries/.
