Karen L. Landsman passed away at age 67 on Sunday, August 17, 2025 after a long illness. Born in 1958 to Carl Hauschild and Mary E. (Mills) Giuliano, she grew up in Nutley, NJ and moved to NH in 1984. She married the love of her life, CJ, in 1986 and their daughter, Corey, was born thereafter. They moved to Concord, NH in 1992 where they made their house into a home.
Karen attended Rutgers University and Notre Dame College in Manchester, where she graduated with a Bachelor Degree in education and was inducted into Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society. She went on to receive a Master of Education degree and Library Media Specialist certification from Plymouth State University. She taught at schools in Concord, Pembroke, Dunbarton, and Hooksett. Karen brought special programs to students, such as Artist in Residence, Invention Convention, and Destination Imagination.
Karen was an advocate for children’s literature; she joined the Concord Public Library Foundation and presented Yates Awards to NH citizens who encouraged students to read. She was a board member of the William H. Gile Trust, bringing free, high quality entertainment to Concord. She was a member of the NH Library Association, volunteered with the Pipes and Drums of NHScot, sang with the Suncook Valley Chorale, was a Girl Scout troop leader, received a lifetime volunteer award from the Unitarian Universalist Church, and was involved in many camps around Concord, such as Camp Invention, History Camp, and Audubon Camp.
Karen enjoyed traveling, reading, and writing. She enjoyed vacations at the beach and a good cup of tea. She was a great listener and made others feel valued. Karen loved her family fiercely; she enjoyed game nights, holidays, birthdays… any excuse to get everyone together. She especially loved spending time with her grandson, Sammy.
She is survived by her husband Charles “CJ” Landsman, daughter Corey (Landsman) and husband Andrew Blohm of Barrington, NH, grandson Samuel Blohm, sister Jean (Hauschild) and husband James Ettori of Tilton, NH, brother Karl and wife Beth Hauschild of Hopkinton, NH, sister-in-law Jeanette (Landsman) and husband Steven Chasin of Londonderry, NH, nieces Ilana and Maya Chasin, nephews Brian and Eric Hauschild, and great nephew Paxton Hubert. She is predeceased by her parents Mary (Mills) Guiliano and Carl Hauschild, and niece Melissa (Saggau) Hubert.
A celebration of life will be held on November 8, 2025 @ 2:00 PM at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Concord, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to two local organizations that were close to her heart: the William H. Gile Trust c/o Citizens Bank Trust Dept., and the Concord Public Library Foundation, Concord, NH. The Landsman family welcome memories and stories of Karen written on an index card that can be placed in an album.
