Karen Lee Wentworth

Daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother:  A woman who loved well and was well-loved.

Karen Lee (Bishop) Wentworth, age 70, passed away early on November 14, 2023, after complications from an illness at Concord Hospital.  She was born, January 1, 1953, in Framingham, Massachusetts to Percy and Florise Bishop. She was the oldest of three children.  Karen was a 1970 graduate of Shead High School in Eastport, Maine.  It was in high school where she found her longtime best friend and love, Lloyd H. Wentworth Jr.  They married on March 6, 1971, in Eastport, Maine and had two daughters, April and Michelle.

For many years, Karen was employed as the school secretary at Eastport Elementary School.  She also supported her husband, Lloyd, with his electrical business.  Later, she worked as a bank teller in Eastport.  In 1996, she and Lloyd moved to New Hampshire where she became employed as a secretary at a dental office.  After the dental office she was employed by NANA (Newfound Area Nursing Association) as the Financial Accounting Manager, where she retired from.

Karen loved spending time with her grandsons.  They loved going on adventures to different places together.  They had a couple of places they would visit every year to take a family picture.  They would go to different theme parks, air shows, NASCAR races and sporting events.  The boys even got her interested in video games, starting with one of her favorites, Mario Kart Racing.  She enjoyed the Lego Star Wars video games.  When she would get stuck, she would have one of the boys help her get past a certain level.  As Karen was a New Year’s baby, the boys took joy in calling her at midnight on New Year’s to wish her a happy birthday.  She loved every minute spent with her three boys, Michael, Matthew, and Riley.

Karen was very fortunate to have a 5-generation family picture taken in 1992 when her first grandchild was born.  Ancestry always intrigued Karen and she spent hours researching her family’s ancestry.  It became her passion.  She also loved giving her “fur” grandchildren green beans in the morning and sitting on the porch to blow bubbles to them.  She also enjoyed watching the birds.  Her favorites were hummingbirds and cardinals.  She would always whistle, and they would come.  She also enjoyed gardening when she was able, doing Wordle and watching random videos on Facebook.

Karen was predeceased by her mother, Florise Bishop, and father, Percy Bishop, and her grandmother, Georgia Snell.

Karen is survived by her loving husband, Lloyd Wentworth Jr. of Boscawen, NH, Her two daughters, April (Wentworth) Pritchard and husband James of Boscawen, NH, and Michelle (Wentworth) Stanhope and husband Joel (Charlie) of Perry, ME.  She is also survived by her grandchildren whom she loved very much, Michael A. Pritchard of Boscawen, NH, Matthew J. Pritchard and fiancé Julianne Marchand of Lebanon, NH, and Riley H. Keezer of Andover, NH.  Her three furry grandchildren whom she loved very much, Tonka, Prim, and Rudder.  Karen is also survived by two brothers, Percy R. Bishop and wife Mary, and Neil Bishop and partner Janie Snider.   Karen is also survived by many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, their spouses, nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Karen also had a special cousin who was like a sister to her whom she loved very much, Jeanne Chellis.

The family would especially like to thank the staff of Concord Hospital and the Granite VNA Hospice Care Team for their constant and attentive treatment and care.

A celebration of life will be held at a future date in Eastport, Maine.
