Our beloved Katherine's life was tragically ended by metastatic breast cancer on October 15, 2015. Before debilitating surgery for breast cancer, Katherine worked as an LPN until 2010 at several hospitals including York Hospital and as a home health nurse for sick children. Katherine attended Walnut Hill School, Natick MA for ballet and graduated from Lexington High School, 1980.
Katherine was an ardent activist for environmental, peace and social justice issues. She was a general assembly member for Occupy NH. She volunteered at the York Wildlife Refuge Center, homeless and battered women's shelters.
Katherine was active in her church and especially looked forward to Thursday morning prayer group.
Services will be held Saturday, October 31, 2015 at 11 am at St. George's Episcopal Church, 407 York Street, York Harbor, ME 03911
After the reception, following the service, anyone who would like is invited to Vaughn woods in South Berwick to spread her ashes in the woods she loved. In memory of Katherine's spirit we thought singing 3 of the peace songs she loved (we shall overcome, down by the riverside and this little light of mine) before would be a fitting tribute.
