Katherine Petitt 79 – Died at Lakes Region General Hospital on February 7, 2007 at 2:00 PM. She suffered a long illness for over two years. Kay and her husband Al lived in Alton Bay for many years where they were both active in the United Associations of Alton. Kay was the secretary and the leading motivator of the Association. She also served as a Director of the Lake Winnipesauke Association and Housing for the elderly in Alton. She was born Katherine Anne VanDeusen in Painesville Ohio. Her family home was in Mentor Ohio until her marriage to Al. She has one brother “Bill” and a sister Charlotte Troop. Bill lives in Ohio, but Charlotte predeceased her in 1995. She raised ten children in Caldwell New Jersey. Two of them, Mark Douglas an infant, and Ellen Katherine pre deceased her. Kay had a deep love of people and was recognized for her ministry transporting the elderly from Alton Bay to Laconia for varied medical treatments There are fifteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren living in various parts of the country. The oldest grandson is a marine who spent two tours in Iraq where he was decorated for valor in combat. A memorial mass will be said at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic church in Meredith at 10:00 am on Saturday February 17 2007 Her favorite charity is St. Vincent DePaul Society, Laconia and donations in her name would be appreciated.
