Katherine Mary (Murphy) Tentas Scaramella, 87, died Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at home in Manchester, NH surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 21, 1935, in Manchester, NH, the daughter of Michael F. Murphy and Stella D. (Kmon) Maher Murphy.
Kathy graduated from St. Joseph’s High School for Girls and attended the University of New Hampshire and graduated from Notre Dame College.
After raising her family, she began her career in real estate, spanning an impressive 20 years. She was a real estate agent for The Gallery of Homes and The Brokerage. She went on to become a manager at The Norwood Realty, Houck & Hall Realty and DeWolfe Real Estate Company. Kathy was highly respected in the real estate community and oversaw the development and training programs for several real estate companies. She was President of the Greater Manchester Board of Realtors in 1984 and the Greater Manchester Board of Realtors, Realtor of the Year in 1985.
Kathy had a passion for traveling and the arts – attending opera, theater and musical performances all over the world. Closer to home, she loved flowers and gardening and read widely, especially enjoying novels, many daily newspapers and a variety of magazines. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and celebrating the holidays. She made every celebration more festive and fun with her creativity and lively personality.
She was loved and admired by her extended family, had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed life. Kathy was genuinely interested in her family and friends and was always happy to be in their company. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother and Auntie Murph.
She was predeceased by her son, Gregory Tentas; her sisters, Jane (Maher) Pappas and Patricia (Maher) Kalinski; her brother, William Maher; and her nephew, Ronald Pappas.
Kathy is survived by her son, Charles Tentas (Jane); her daughters, Patricia Walter (Thomas) and Barbara Tentas (Bassem Alnahas); her grandchildren, Hayley Grenier (Jon), Laura Limbek (Andrew), Joseph Walter (Ashley), Emily Tentas, Katherine Walter, Keenan Alnahas and Nora Alnahas; her great grandchildren, Thomas and William Grenier, Blair Limbek and Beau Walter; and many loving nieces and nephews and dear friends.
SERVICES: A Memorial Reception will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2023, from 1:00 – 4:00PM at the Cremation Society of New Hampshire, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester, NH 03104. A Service of Remembrance will begin at 3:30PM during the reception. Family and friends are invited to attend.
Kathy's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the medical staff at the Visiting Nurses Association of Manchester.
