Katherine Ann Sweeney

December 3, 1929 — March 11, 2024

Milford

Katherine, a lifelong resident of Nashua, passed away peacefully at the age of 94. Born to Lithuanian immigrant parents, she carried her heritage with pride throughout her life. Kate had a big heart and was always first to help others in need. She loved cats and was never without one by her side. She found solace and fulfillment in the simple pleasures of life, particularly in her passions for cooking, crafting, and playing in the dirt! She loved working outside, whether tending to her garden or keeping her yard looking beautiful. In her younger years, she was an active member of St Casimir’s Parish and the American Legion Auxiliary sharing her love of cooking in their kitchens at many parties and functions.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, James A Sweeney Jr, with whom she shared more than 49 years of love and companionship. Their bond was a testament to enduring devotion and partnership.

Katherine leaves behind her loving daughter, Debra Girard of Milford, NH who will forever cherish the memories of love, resilience and strength that Katherine imparted.

Her legacy extends to her grandsons, David Girard of Milford, NH, and Nicholas Girard, who, along with his husband Nathan Zinck of Salisbury, NH, carry forward the spirit of love and compassion that Katherine shared with them. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

In the hearts of those who knew her, Katherine’s memory will continue to bloom like the flowers she tended with care and nourish like the meals she prepared with love. There will be a private graveside service where the family will say their final goodbye. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Nashua Humane Society in Katherine’s honor.

May she rest in peace beside her husband for all eternity.
