Kathie Lopez passed away on September 11, 2025 surrounded by her beloved family, wrapped in the love she gave so freely throughout her life.
Kathie was born on September 18, 1958 in Stoneham, MA to Louis and Carol Lopez.
She graduated from Exeter High School and Granite State College. She retired from her job at the University of New Hampshire in 2021.
Kathie is survived by her brother Anthony Lopez and his wife Cindy, her sister, Christine Richard and her husband Wayne, and her brother John Lopez and his wife Debra. In addition, she was an incredible aunt to 8 nieces and nephews; Jason Lopez, Dan Lopez, Jessica Cufone (Dennis), Kaylee McLean and her partner Nik Gonthier, Jillian Johnson (Spenser), Alaina Powell (Richard), Jennifer Lopez (Mark Newland), and Michael Lopez. She was a devoted great aunt to 8 great nieces and nephews; Teresa Lopez, Christopher and Collin McLean, Ella Lopez, Zoe and Milo Johnson, and Jack and Cecilia Powell. She loved each one so unconditionally and fully. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends whom she loved dearly but are too many to name.
Kathie had the biggest heart and would help anyone in any way she could. She was someone you could always count on. She was an animal lover and adopted many mean cats over the years. She was a good crocheter, making blankets for every new baby that entered her life- human, cat, or doll! She shared her love of music with all of her nieces and nephews; bringing them to concerts, sharing records, burning cds (sorry), and recording music videos from MTV to play endlessly at their request. Her happy place was a chair on her sister’s porch, laughing with her family.
She was funny and thoughtful. She was a great cook and good enough at sewing to make a kids Halloween costume. She was a great friend, an excellent sister, and set the highest bar as an aunt.
She will be missed by her friends and family who were so incredibly blessed to have her in their lives.
Her celebration of life will be held on November 15, 2025 at 1:00pm at the Lee Congregational Church, 17 Mast Rd, Lee, NH 03861.
