Kathleen Margaret Bowser passed away on May 30, 2017 at the Merrimack County Nursing Home in Boscawen, NH after suffering from Alzheimer's disease for many years. Kathleen was born in Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec on April 22, 1933, the daughter of George and Margaret Kelleher, and lived there until she was 21.
After becoming a US citizen and living in Springfield, Massachusetts for a period, she moved to New York City and worked in the financial industry on Wall Street before getting married in 1964 to Kenneth Bowser, and moving back to Western Massachusetts. Kathleen's intelligence and drive eventually led her become vice president of Health New England, based in Springfield. Her greatest love was her family; in 1969 she and Ken welcomed their son Matthew into their lives. In 1994, Kathleen and Ken fulfilled their dream of moving to Cape Cod where they resided for 10 years until they finally moved to New Hampshire to be closer to family. Kathleen was married to her loving husband Kenneth Bowser for 43 years before he passed away in 2006.
Kathleen is remembered for her resounding laugh, vivid stories, her quick intelligence, boundless energy, and her deep love of family. Her free time was never idle, as she poured over newspapers, created watercolor paintings, drove to favorite spots with her sidekick Holly, painted her house, refinished furniture, and tended her garden. Kathleen especially loved to visit with her family and travel with her sister and dear friend Claire. And she always found time match wits and share life with her husband Ken.
She is survived by her son Matthew Bowser, his wife Stephanie, her three stepchildren Kenneth Bowser, Lois Pozsar, and Maria Bowser, and her grandchildren Demian, Tara, Samantha, Brianne, Jacob and Olivia.
A private memorial service will be held for the family, but for those who wish, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to New Hampshire Humane Society P.O. Box 572 Laconia, NH 03247, or to the Alzheimers Association at www.alz.org.
