Kathleen Marie (Nelson) Schreiber, 79, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Birch Health Care in Rochester.

Born on March 29, 1947, in Boston, Massachusetts, Kathy was the daughter of Edward and Sally Nelson. She grew up in West Roxbury and graduated from Mission High School with the Class of 1965. Before marrying, she worked as a bookkeeper at Boston Children's Hospital.

On June 29, 1969, Kathy married John E. Schreiber in Boston, Massachusetts. John and Kathy moved their family to North Conway NH. The couple later divorced in 1996. Following their divorce, Kathy embraced an independent lifestyle, remaining active and enjoying life on her own terms until her final days.

Kathy found great joy in spending time with her family and friends. She was a devoted mother who loved cheering on her children in their sports and activities while they were growing up. Later in life, nothing brought her more happiness than watching her grandchildren grow and celebrating their accomplishments.

A gifted home cook, Kathy especially enjoyed preparing meals for the people she loved. Her kitchen was often the heart of family gatherings, and she took great pride in hosting holiday dinners where everyone was welcomed with a full table, delicious food, and warm hospitality. Creating memories around those meals was one of her greatest joys. She was also active with the Kennett High Football Boosters, participated in activities at the Gibson Center, and was a faithful member of the Catholic Church.

She was predeceased by her older brother, Paul Nelson.

Kathy is survived by her three sons, John Schreiber, Michael Schreiber, and Eric Schreiber; her daughters-in-law, Jennie, Noelle, and Jennifer; and her beloved grandchildren, John Edward III ("Jay"), Annaka, Madilynn, Kyle, Jordyn, and Bella. She is also survived by her brother, David Nelson of Lancaster, as well as her nephews, Paul, Danny, and Chris Nelson, along with many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

Kathy will be remembered for her love of family, her generous spirit, her kind heart, and the warmth she shared with everyone around her. Whether gathered around her dinner table for a holiday meal or simply enjoying time together, she had a special way of making people feel at home. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
