Pelletier (Ken), 70, of Atkinson, formerly of Newton NH, passed away at home on Saturday, December 2nd following a long illness.
Ken was born in Beverly, MA to the late Arthur and Audrey (Withy) Pelletier.
Following his graduation from Beverly High School in 1971, Ken attended Bridgewater State University, majoring in Biology. While at BSU, Ken met his wife, Marianne, of almost 50 years. Ken went on to Long Island University (C.W. Post Center) to earn a Master’s degree in Marine and Environmental Science. Ken loved school and always took more than the degree-required courses. Ken spent over 25 years working for the Department of Environmental Protection (State of MA) where he managed drinking water programs.
Ken and Marianne moved to New Hampshire, eventually settling in Newton where they raised their two children, Benjamin and Emily. Ken enjoyed many activities with his children and volunteered his time as a scout leader, baseball coach, soccer coach and referee, as well as many school activities. Ken was one of the founding members of Sanborn Youth Soccer. In addition, Ken was very active in town activities as Health Officer, member of Zoning Board of Appeals, and the Planning Board. Ken also was a member of the regional Solid Waste District.
In addition to his wife, Ken is survived by his son, Benjamin, of Oregon and his daughter, Emily, of Oregon, as well as two grand daughters, Hazel and Mary. He is also survived by his brother, Stephen and his wife, Collette, of Ipswich, MA; sister, Janice and her husband, William Guerrette, of Beverly, MA; sister, Karen and her husband, Joseph Parisella, of Beverly; brother, James and his wife, Susan, of Beverly.
A Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday, January 6th, from 11:30 to 2:30 at the Atkinson Community Center, 4 Main Street, Atkinson. All are welcome.
