Lauchlin "Lonnie" MacKinley, a beloved father, brother, grandfather, and friend, passed peacefully on August 5, 2026, leaving behind love and kindness that touched the lives of many. Born on December 16, 1955, in Nashua, NH, Lonnie was the beloved son of Creighton L. and Grace E. (MacDonald) MacKinley, who predeceased him, along with his nephew, Jason Smith.

Lonnie is survived by his loving daughter, Sarah MacKinley, her husband, Adam Kohler, and their two beautiful daughters, Stella Grace and Emery Louise, who were the light of his life. His sister, Norma MacKinley-Smith, her husband, Scott Smith, and their sons, Geoffrey and Andrew, will miss him greatly. Lonnie's presence will also be deeply missed by his numerous cousins and friends who were like family.

Lonnie graduated from Nashua High School in 1973, and went on to work at XL Corporation and Brockway Corporation, where he was known not only for his hard work but also for the lasting friendships he built with his coworkers.

Lonnie was a man of many passions. A true naturalist, he found joy in the great outdoors, whether fishing, camping, paddling, or tending to his garden. He was also a creative cook. Lonnie was a music enthusiast, frequently attending festivals such as Mom Jam and the White Mountain Boogie and Blues Festival, where his free spirit shone brightly.

Generosity was at the heart of Lonnie's character. He donated regularly to the Nashua Soup Kitchen and St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, and shared his time and resources with many in need. Lonnie's spirit of giving extended beyond his lifetime as an organ and tissue donor, ensuring his legacy of kindness would continue.

Those who knew Lonnie will remember him as a kind and loving soul, a man of many hats, whose presence brought warmth and joy to many. His ability to live life to the fullest and create lasting memories is a testament to the vibrant spirit he embodied. Lonnie's friends and family will forever cherish the way he made them feel, leaving a lasting imprint on their hearts.

The family looks forward to gathering at a later date to celebrate Lonnie's remarkable life. Details of the memorial will be shared in due course.
