Laurence M. Farrington Sr., 80, of Bedford, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2017 at the Elliot Hospital surrounded by his family, following a period of declining health. He was born on January 19, 1937 in Augusta, ME, son of the late Milton and Ellen (Dodge) Farrington.
Laurence attended school in Hudson, NH, before joining the Navy as soon as he was old enough to do so. He proudly served his country for over 13 years, and was recognized for his service with several medals, including a National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Navy Unit Commendation. Upon his exit from the Navy, Laurence worked very hard to support his family, primarily as a metal fabricator at Ingersoll Rand for nearly 20 years.
Laurence's greatest joy was his family; he worked very hard, often multiple jobs in one day, so that his wife, Patricia, could stay home with the children. He was a member of the Hudson VFW Post, and enjoyed playing horseshoes.
Laurence leaves behind his wife of nearly 50 years, Patricia (Moron) Farrington; his son, Laurence Farrington Jr. and wife Wendy of Windham, ME and their children Melanie and Kolby; daughter Rhonda Figary of Derry, NH and her children Amanda and Kacie; daughter Tammy Davila and husband Dan of Bedford, NH and their children Jordan, Corey, Jacob and Connor; his sister Judy Farrington and husband Marvin of Arizona and their children Lorie and Tracy; brother Thomas Farrington of Arizona; brother Walter Farrington of Florida and his children Gail and Jason; as well as four great-grandchildren, Rylee, Raelynn, Chris and Dominic.
SERVICES: Laurence will be laid to rest with military honors at 10:30am on Friday, April 28th, 2017 at the New Hampshire State Veteran's Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH.
