Laurette J. Sasseville

Laurette J. Sasseville (Turcotte), of Manchester N H, passed away on February 23, 2021, at her beloved Hackett Hill Care Center. She was born on February 4, 1925, in Manchester NH, daughter of Egide and Louisa Lemay (Camire).
She was married to Wilfrid ("Willy") Turcotte for over 40 years, and had 5 children. They met at Manchester Knitted Fashions. While courting they loved music and dancing, and had many sing-a-longs and music at her parents' house. He passed away in 1987. She was also pre-deceased by her older sister Yvonne Gagnon, and many other friends and family members, having lived a long and full life. Her first-born child, Connie, tragically passed away
soon after birth in 1947. However, her dream of and faith in having 2 boys and 2 girls still came true. Surviving are Ronald Turcotte (and Judy Nelson) of Canterbury NH, Lee (and Buck) Mercier of Hooksett NH, Mona (and Ronald) Morse of Loudon NH, and David (and Mallaney) Turcotte of Norridgewock ME.
Laurette re-married in 1994 to Roland Sasseville, an old "flame" from 2nd grade!
They moved to Merritt Island Florida, and had 19 wonderful years in retirement together.
She stayed there till 2017, and then moved back to her home town here in Manchester, NH,
where she could be close to family. She soon settled into her new "home" at the Hackett Hill Care Center, and made herself a part of their everyday life, where she was often visited by her 6
grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, old friends, nieces and nephews, and her 1st great, great grandchild.
A very outgoing and fun-loving woman, she made many friends everywhere she went.
Even when facing several years in a "nursing home", she made the best of her situation,
and many wonderful staff members soon came to love her. She was even put in charge
of the social calendar, and proudly wielded her gavel at their meetings.
Laurette had a very successful career with Beeline Fashions for many years, even while raising a family. She was also active in the Ladies of St. Ann's, at St. Marie's Church in Manchester.
She was a social butterfly and loved gathering around family and friends whenever possible.
Whether dancing, playing cards, going to the pool, or having a barbecue around her daughter's
pool, she always had funny stories to share. She believed that friends and family were flowers in the garden of life.
She loved her family most of all and bored many of her friends with their accomplishments,
whenever possible.
She came to be known as "the butterfly lady", and was quick to show off her butterfly tattoo,
as well as the many butterfly mementos she received as gifts.
Her adaptation to being quarantined once the COVID crisis struck, including surviving a severe case herself, was inspirational. She reached out to the other residents as much as she could, and spent many hours on the phone with friends and family, remaining upbeat and entertaining.
We want to thank the many people at Hackett Hill who got to know Mom, and helped to
fill a void due to contact restrictions, as we were not able to hug her over the last year.
She was a great hugger! Your loving care surely extended a quality life for her, and gave her more purpose to living. We will forever be grateful.
So "Ta-Ta for now" Laurette, as she so often said. She is now with her beloved Willy, and her many other loved ones that went before her. They are certainly in for an earful!
No calling hours are planned. There will be a private celebration of her life later this spring or summer. Contributions in her name can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
