Lawrence Joseph "Larry" Gilman

Lawrence (Larry) Joseph Gilman, 61, of Milford, New Hampshire, passed away suddenly on October 31, 2018. He was surrounded by his daughter, son and some close family members at the time of his passing. He joins his wife of 40 years who passed in January earlier this year.

Veteran Burial services will be held at New Hampshire State Veteran Cemetery in Boscawen, NH at 11am on May 17th, 2019. The Cremation Society of New Hampshire will be handling the cremation and service arrangements.

Larry was born to Joseph Gilman and Eileen (Connelly) Gilman on December 29, 1956 in Fitchburg, MA. He was the youngest of 4 children his parents brought up (3 boys + 1 girl).

He was an extremely funny character (always making jokes and funny faces), strong willed, fierce, loyal, and an extremely proud man. He enjoyed drawing (cartoons), music, karate and keeping active in his younger years. He met and fell in love with a girl (Louise) in 1973, cross country in old Chevy truck in 1974. Although the truck didn't go very far and they never made it cross country, Louise stole his heart. He continued to think about her when he joined the Navy in 1974.

He left on his last adventure with the navy, a 205 day "Med"-curse (March 31 to Oct 21, 1977) on the USS Wainwright (CG-28) traveling to many different locations. His ship participated in drills and exercises, one he was most fond of was when they out maneuvered another, and their ship was awarded The Navy "E". Just a little over a year later he married Louise Ann (Titus) Gilman on November 5, 1978. He retired from the Navy and joined the Army National Guard in 1979. Eventually retiring from service in November 1996.

He had two children a daughter and a son. Kimberly was born on September 16, 1983 and Larry was born on March 12, 1996. When his kids were growing up he volunteered for many groups including Civil War reenactments. He even volunteered with his young son Larry with the NH Governor Horse Guards. He was especially proud of his work for them performing in many parades, demonstrations and governor functions.

Larry is preceded by his Mother Eileen (Connelly) Gilman, Father Joseph Gilman & Wife Louise Ann (Titus) Gilman.

Larry is survived by his daughter Kimberly (Gilman) Funk, his son Larry Gilman, his brothers Mike & Warren Gilman, his sister Ellen (Gilman) Nass and his two grandchildren, Archer and Hunter Funk.
