Lawrence Hardy

Lawrence F. “Jake” Hardy, 85, of Concord, NH died November 7, 2007 at Harris Hill Center after a long illness. He was born in Concord, NH son of the late Arthur E. and Gladys E (Saltmarsh) Hardy. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was employed for many years as Tax Compliance Officer for the NH Department of Revenue. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Catherine C. Hardy; his two daughters, Carol Hardy Currier and Barbara Hardy Reed both of Concord, NH; his two grandchildren, Patricia Anne Reed of Brighton, MA and William B. Reed of Concord, NH; and his sister Claire Hill of N. Palm Beach, FL. He is predeceased by his son Curt Austin Hardy; his sister Nellie M. Rustad of Portsmouth, NH; and his brothers Austin E. Hardy of Lancaster, PA, and Arthur B. Hardy of Brunswick, NJ. He enjoyed reading, classical music and bowling. He was a contributor to the Concord Public Library, the Granite State Symphony Orchestra, and the New Hampshire Philharmonic Orchestra. He was also a member of the Senior Citizens Bowling League at Boutwell’s. There are no calling hours and a Memorial Service will be held at the convenience of the family. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Granite State Symphony Orchestra 111 Centre St, Concord, NH 03301, www.gsso.org or the Society for the prevention of Cruelty to Animals 130 Washington St., Penacook, NH 03303.
