Lawrence Roger Plourde, 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday January 15, 2025, at Sullivan County Health Care in Unity, NH. He was born on May 1,1936 in Waterbury, CT, the son of Joseph Remie Plourde and Gertrude Dorothee (Lang). Roger moved to Claremont, NH with his parents and older brother when he was 6 years old. Growing up he worked alongside his father and mother who ran lumber camps in New Brunswick, Canada and owned a Sawmill in Claremont. NH. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany during the Berlin Crisis. He was a carpenter and worked building houses in Cape Cod, MA. He built his own home in Unity, NH with occasional assist from friends and family. He was a skilled machinist for Jones and Lamson and Vermont Machine Tool. He would occasionally travel out of state to repair and calibrate challenging machines. After retiring they convinced him to come back to work part time. After retiring again from the machine shop, he worked part time for the City of Claremont Parks Dept in NH and started a new hobby of making furniture for friends and family. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 29 and the Polish American Citizen’s Club in Claremont, NH. Roger enjoyed a variety of music. He played guitar and the harmonica. He loved the beauty of the mountains of New Hampshire and Vermont and often said he wouldn’t want to live anywhere else. He loved spending time outdoors. He liked fishing although he was not very patient, a good excuse to spend a little time outside. He was predeceased by his brother Joseph Elmer Plourde. His first wife and mother of his children Joyce (Wiles) Plourde. Roger was a beloved husband, father, Poppy and great-grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife Esther (Wells) Plourde. Daughters, Michelle Campbell (husband Andrew), Janine Plourde and Denise Mack (husband Carl). His wife’s daughter Marie Lamb (husband Sundar Narasimhan). Grandchildren Remie, Laura, Rob, Lindsy, Kristie and Mallika. Great grandchildren Nathan, Thomas, Annie, Lily and Violet. Nephews Bryan Plourde and Joeseph Plourde.

Roger had a sincere love and kindness that he expressed to family, friends and to a stranger in need. We will miss hearing him tell tales of his youthful escapades and misadventures, his smile, his laugh. Roger rest well you’ve earned it.
