Leo James Martin, age 55, of Claremont, NH, passed away February 22nd after a long brave battle at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center with his family and close friends by his side. Beloved husband and father, he is survived by his wife Catherine Martin of Claremont NH, son Dominic Martin and his wife Christi of Springfield VT, son Michael Marinaro and his wife Charlene of Portland ME, and his beloved 4yr old granddaughter Francesca Marinaro of Portland ME. He was born in Fall River, MA on May 13, 1954. He met his future wife Catherine in North Conway, NH in 1989, and they married on July 4, 1998 in West Lebanon, NH. Leo was enlisted in the army and was stationed at Fort Dix, NJ in the 1970's. He had many careers throughout his lifetime, including being a bouncer, a cook, a residential counselor, and a nursing care provider. His life centered on helping others, and he touched many lives during his journey. Leo received an award as LNA of the Year in 2003 while he was working at Genesis Elder Care in Lebanon NH. Leo was a long time poet whose poems were published across the world. He was an avid Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics and New England Patriots fan. He loved to cook, and has won awards for the best chili in North Conway, NH and in Maine. Leo lived a fulfilling life. Some of the brightest moments of his life were the day he met his future wife Catherine, the day his granddaughter Francesca was born, and the day he was reunited with his son Dominic in 2006. Thank you Leo for the memories, we love you and we will miss you. A service will be held at a later date.
