Leo Paul Gosselin, a beloved figure in his community and cherished family member, died on March 9, 2025, at the age of 87. He passed peacefully at his home in Rochester, NH, surrounded by his loving family. Leo was born on July 13, 1937, to Francois and Alexandra (Morissette) Gosselin, in Hardwick, VT, and grew up in the scenic town of Saint Johnsbury, VT.
Leo served honorably in the US Navy and carried those values throughout his life. He led a rich and full life, marked by dedication and hard work. His career spanned various roles, including that of an equipment operator in road construction, a police officer in Connecticut, and a welder at ABB/Westinghouse. He eventually became the proud owner of Rochester Welding in Rochester, NH, where many will remember his skillful hands and keen eye for fabrication.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Leo was known for his nurturing spirit and deep love for family and friends. He cherished every moment spent with them, often sharing delightful stories and photos from his life. His faith was a cornerstone of his existence, providing strength and purpose that guided him in all he did. His personality shone like a beacon for those around him; he derived immense joy from tinkering with projects, fishing during peaceful afternoons, and indulging in music, whether playing the piano or harmonica, or simply enjoying the blues. Leo also adored spending time with his son Matt’s dog, Molly, taking her for walks and rides, which brought him great joy and companionship.
He is survived by his devoted family, including his son, Al Gosselin, and his wife, Wendy Evans, as well as his son, Matthew Young, and his wife, Heather Young, all of Rochester, NH. Leo also leaves behind his cherished sister, Therese Gosselin of Lynchburg, VA, along with a legacy of love in the form of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will forever carry his spirit with them.
Preceding him in death were his father, Francois Gosselin, and mother, Alexandra Gosselin (Morissette), along with his brother, Paul Gosselin.
A Celebration of Life will be held in honor of Leo on April 5, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Rochester Elks, located at 295 Columbus Ave, Rochester, NH.
