Leola Lowder

Leola Faye Lowder, 85, passed away on July 18, 2020 at St. Joseph Hospital. She was born on February 22, 1935 in Faith, South Dakota to Amos and Dora Walter.

When Leola was about 5 her family moved to Canton Ohio where she attended Lehman high school. She then attended college at Kent State University. After graduation she took a drove across the country in her new Buick special convertible to southern California with her sister Iona. Her sister Iona had a teaching job in Vandenburg, CA and Leola worked in a doctor's office. After a few years she became restless and went to San Francisco where she got a job at Harkness Hospital working as a medical technologist who specialized in Microbiology.

She later got married To Wendell Lowder. They had one Daughter together but then divorced. When Harkness closed Leola got a job at the University of California in San Francisco where she worked until retiring in 1990. She continued living in San Francisco, took many cruises and enjoyed getting together with her daughter's family at Christmas and Thanksgiving. She was very happy when she had 2 grandchildren. Later in life she moved to a retirement community at Sun City in Lincoln Hills, CA. At about 80 she moved to New Hampshire to be closer to her daughter's family.

She is preceded in death by her parents Dora and Amos Walter.

She is survived by her daughter Catherine and son in Law Darrell Livezey and 2 grandchildren. A brother Kermit Walter and his wife Janice in Michigan and a niece and Nephew in California. Her sister Beverly Bennett and brother in Law George Bennett. Her sister Iona Cook in South Carolina, and 2 nephews in Texas.
