Salisbury, NH – Leon J “Lee” Kubiak, Jr, age 79, passed away peacefully in Lawton, OK. Lee was born on January 7, 1943 in Pawtucket, RI, the first son of Leon J Kubiak Sr and Ilse A (Rosentreter) Kubiak, both deceased. Lee graduated from Tolman High School class of 1961. He was a 23-year United States Air Force veteran, having served in Vietnam, Germany, and Guam. Attaining the rank of Master Sergeant (E-7).
Residing in Salisbury, NH since 1986, he was employed by the New Hampshire Department of Corrections, working out of the State Prisons in Concord NH and Laconia NH until his retirement in 2000.
Lee was a Life Member of the Franklin Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post #1698, the Franklin Elks Lodge #1280, as well as the American Legion Post #49 in Tilton .
He is preceded in death by his wife Karen A (Tower) Kubiak in 1986, his significant other Glennice A Poisson in 2019, and a brother Paul R. Kubiak in 2013.
He is survived by his daughters Colonel Jennifer L. Schulke, United States Army and Jessica L. Lawrence of Chichester, N.H., three grandchildren Cera, Ben, and Aiden Schulke, brothers Edmond (Ned) of Burns TN, and Michael of Lakeworth FL and sister Paulette of Lakeworth FL, as well as nephews, nieces, and cousins.
SERVICES: A graveside service will be held at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway in Boscawen, NH on Monday, March 28, 2022 at 10am. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, Lee has requested monetary donations be made to the Salisbury Volunteer Fire Department, C/O Ladies Auxiliary, PO Box 100, Salisbury NH 03268. Assisting the family with arrangements is the Cremation Society of NH, 172 King Street, Boscawen, NH.
