Leslie H ''Bud'' Goodnow, Jr, 52, of Laurel Drive, Bow, New Hampshire, died Wednesday, June 21, at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center after a sudden illness. He was born in Hanover, NH, the son of Leslie H and Alma (Smith) Goodnow. He graduated from Keene High School. He was drafted into the US Army and served in Vietnam in the 1rst Air Cavalry Divison, from July 1968 through April 1970. He was awarded the Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, the Bronze Star and the Silver Star. When he returned, he attended Keene State College, and graduated in 1974. He began a career in financial services at Indian Head Bank in Keene, as a mail carrier, teller and commercial loan collection agent. He was transferred to Indian Head Bank in Milford to the investment services division. From there, he came to Amoskeag Bank as a personal trust officer. Later at the same bank, he became a pension plan administrator. He was awarded the designation of Certified Employee Benefits Specialist. He served in a similar capacity for First NH Investment Services, Staffing Network, and Benefit Services. His most recent employment was with Wheat First Union. Mr. Goodnow was a member of the New Hampshire Estate Planning Council, the New Hampshire Employee Benefits Council (serving as Treasurer) and the Kiwanis Club of Manchester. For many years, Bud and his friend Philip DiNuovo, took camping and canoeing trips on the rivers of New Hampshire and Maine, and the Yukon Territories. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hiker, skier and hunter. One of his favorite places was the summer home of his family on Sand Pond in Marlow, NH. Survivors include his wife, Judith V (Conn) Goodnow; his parents, both of Concord, NH; his three brothers, Donald Goodnow of Madbury, NH, Walter ''Hal'' Goodnow of Surry, NH, and Robert Goodnow of Mont Vernon, NH; two nieces and two nephews; a step-son, cousins, and his cat, Farley. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 1 at 2pm at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Concord, with a brief reception following the service. Ashes will be scattered at Sand Pond and at East Boothbay, Maine, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Leukemia Society of America, 600 Third Avenue, New York, NY 10016
