Occhipinti, Lewis of Nashua, New Hampshire, 85, died at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua, New Hampshire, December 24. He was born in New York City on March 7, 1918. He moved to Brooksville, FL, Hernando County, in 1982 from Peekskill, New York. He was a retired insurance adjuster for Aetna Insurance Company. He was a life time member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and served as Commander of the VFW in Tarrytown, New York in the 1960's. He was a star football player in high school and college and was a football referee for pop-Warner, high school and professional teams. When he retired from refereeing he had served over 30 years one of the oldest referees in Westchester County. His wife, Christina MacPhail Occhipinti predeceased him in November, 2001. He is survived by two daughters and son-in-laws, Amy & Nat Ciccone of Esopus, New York and Christina and Lawrence Giles of Pepperell, Massachusetts; four grandchildren, Brett Wiggins, Amy Page, Cara and Lisa Ciccone, one great granddaughter, Elle Christina Wiggins and one brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Lucy Occhipinti of Montrose, New York. Private internment will take place in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Tarrytown, New York.
