Linda A. Johnson, 74, currently of Derry, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her loving family at Parkland Medical Center on January 13, 2017 following a heart attack.
Linda was born in Marlborough, Massachusetts in 1942 and was the daughter of the late David and Lorraine (Lambert) Jessing.
Linda led a successful and accomplished life, receiving her nursing degree from Henry Haywood School of Nursing in Gardner, Massachusetts in 1964. She devoted her life to taking care of the ill, but found her passion in taking care of her "littlest patients," in the Pediatric Oncology Department at the UMass Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts beginning in 1981 and continuing for over 20 years. During her tenure she achieved many important roles, as President of the UMass Nurses Union and Charge Nurse for the Pediatric Oncology Department. Linda had a passion for camping, baking, traveling,her church, all holidays, especially Christmas, her grandchildren and loved her family more than anything. Linda was also a devoted fan of the New England Patriots and professional football. Linda will be fondly remembered for her caring and affectionate personality that enriched the lives of all that she encountered.
Linda was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She made her home in Brookfield, Massachusetts with her husband of 42 years, Harland "Roy" Johnson, who predeceased her in 2007. Shortly thereafter, she moved to Derry, New Hampshire to be closer to her family.
Linda is survived by one sister, Elizabeth Jessing of Derry, New Hampshire, and two brothers, David Jessing Jr. of Beverly Hills, Florida and Thomas Jessing of Lake Havasu, Arizona. Also surviving her are two daughters, Debra Crete along with her Husband Timothy Crete of Rochester, Vermont and Laura Pimentel along with her husband John Pimentel of Lunenburg, Massachusetts, as well as one son, Kenneth Johnson of Natick, Massachusetts. She also is survived by two grandchildren, Crystal Thurston along with her husband Brendon Thurston of Manchester, New Hampshire and Christopher Crete along with his wife Jewelia Crete of Virginia Beach, Virginia.
A Catholic service will be held on Saturday January 28th at 10:00am at St. Thomas Aquinas Church 26 Crystal Ave. Derry NH . A formal burial service will follow at a later date.
