Linda Kathan grew up in Putney, Vermont as the fourth child of a closely knit family of nine children. She lived in many different locales throughout her life, but recently resided in Swanzey, NH with her partner Wes Frazier. Linda passed on January 22, after a months long battle with Bulbar ALS, with loved ones and family members at her bedside. Linda was 67 years old.
Although Linda's illness was debilitating and painful, she managed to grace everyone with open arms and a beaming smile on her face when she could. Wes was there for her in the last months taking care of her every need. Her sister Joyce was at her side every day possible, along with her brothers and sons ever present to see her pass through to the next stage of life.
Linda was devout in her belief of the Lord, and enjoyed reading the Bible and listening to scripture and gospel music, while sipping a cup of tea. Linda also enjoyed hiking, taking walks, maintaining her garden, and generally being outside with nature.
Linda's entire family is musically inclined and one of her favorite pastimes was singing and making music with her siblings. Most important to Linda was her family. Hardly a day would pass without Linda spending time with a family member or calling a loved one on the phone. She cherished those moments; reminiscing about the past or discussing a scripture she had recently read.
Linda is predeceased by her father William Kathan, and Mother Joyce Colella. She is survived by her partner Wes Frazier, her much loved sons Jason and Matthew Peters, her beloved sister Joyce (Kathan) Giroux, and her dear brothers Bill Kathan, Dan Kathan, Walter Kathan, John Kathan, Arnold Kathan, Kevin Kathan, and Brent Kathan.
Matthew 5:4: "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted." Compassion and love are present especially in times of grief. Lean on those closest to you.
