Lisette Florence (Lachance) Couture, 83, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, in the comfort of her home and surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on September 11, 1941, in the quaint town of Lac Megantic, Quebec, Canada. Lisette was the daughter of Elzear “Albert” Lachance and Annette (Baillargeon) Lachance. She was one of six children.
1n 1961 Lisette’s family decided to move from their native Canada to Manchester, NH. Paul decided to move with Lisette and her family, where he shared a room with her brother. He lived with her family until they were married. Lisette married Paul Couture on July 28, 1962, at Ste Marie Church in Manchester. Together they went on to have three children. Lisette eventually applied for and received her U.S. Citizenship.
Lisette was self-employed for many years. Working alongside her husband who was a self-employed auto body technician and they also owned a car dealership. Lisette took care of the bookkeeping for the shop and also took care of the paperwork required for the sale of every automobile sold. Oftentimes this was done with the three kids in tow.
Lisette earned her cosmetology license from Houle’s Beauty School back in the early 70’s. She had her own salon in the basement of their home but would oftentimes go to the nursing homes or people’s private homes to cut, color, or perm their hair. This is something she was still doing for friends and family up until just a few months ago.
Once the kids were grown, Lisette went to work at The Family Bank and Trust in Allenstown, from 1986 to 1990. Toward the end of 1990, she and Paul moved to the North Country and went on to live there for twenty years. In 1993, Lisette went to work for Citizens Bank in Colebrook. She worked there until she eventually retired.
After Paul passed, Lisette met a sweet, gentle man. He loved Lisette with everything he was, and he enjoyed spoiling her. They would rent a condo in Daytona, FL every winter. She really enjoyed her winters there. She loved walking on the beach and collecting shells while she walked. Unfortunately, Adrian passed after just four short years of them being together.
Lisette was a very social person. She was a member of the Supreme Council Columbiettes in Manchester, NH, for 25 years. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society in Boscawen, NH. She liked to meet with her peers monthly at the local Senior Center to play games, do crafts, or just meet at different restaurants for lunch after they closed. Lisette was very kind, was well-liked, and she made many friends easily.
For a time, Lisette enjoyed playing shuffleboard at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Manchester. She would spend hours reading and was very serious about piecing together a jigsaw puzzle. There is still one, unfinished, on the table at home. She enjoyed watching the birds come to the feeders. She would look them up if she didn’t happen to know what kind they were. Her chickens and collecting their eggs were a passion of hers. Each chicken had a name. She could tell you if they were hiding their eggs, just from their behavior.
Lisette’s greatest joy was time spent with her family. She loved having them stop in for a visit or a phone call. She especially loved getting together for the holidays. She loved her grandchildren ad great-grandchildren. All she ever wanted was to spend more time with them.
She is survived by her three children, Ricky Couture of Pembroke, NH, Steven Couture of Boscawen, NH, and Nathalie Desrochers and her husband Michael of Stewartstown, NH; her granddaughter, Ashley Royer and husband Bryan Royer and their children Madelyn and Benjamin Royer; her grandson Michael Couture; granddaughter Natasha Peterson and her children Noah and Kingston Peterson; and grandson Zach Couture. She also leaves behind a sister, Ginette Langlois; two brothers, Gilles Lachance and wife Lillian Lachance, Michael Lachance and wife Denise Lachance; sister-in-law, Aline Vallieres; and brother-in-law, Gaetan Couture; and several nieces and nephews.
