Lois, 84 passed away peacefully with family by her side at the Home Health and Hospice House in Merrimack NH on November 1, 2019.

She was born and raised on Quechee Fells Farm in Quechee, VT. The family farm was well known for its Jersey cattle, chickens, apple orchards, vegetables gardens, and the maple syrup it produced and sold.

Lois graduated from Hartford High School in 1953. She enjoyed many activities such as the 4-H Jersey Cattle Club, Eastern States, softball and chorus. Lois loved playing her trombone in the band and playing at the football games. She was a proud participant with the All State Band in Burlington, VT. Education was very important to Lois; she received a full scholarship to Lyndon State College in Lyndon VT and earned her Bachelors of Science in Education in 1957. Her first teaching position was in Danville, VT.

Lois married Clarence H. Barrett on June 21, 1958, and resided in Danville, VT. They had 3 children, enjoyed square dancing, movies nights, bowling, going to the beach, camping and spending time with family and friends. They moved to Nashua, NH in 1967. Lois and Clarence joined First Church of Nashua where they enjoyed serving on many boards and committees. Lois experienced great pleasure in using her skills as a teacher organizing the children's education and Sunday school programs. They were married for 42 wonderful years. Lois loved to teach, especially the 5th and 6th grades. She taught for 35 years and most of those years were spent teaching in the Nashua NH school district.

Lois retired to Venice Beach Florida and later married Merwyn "Buzz" Hall on December 5, 2000. They enjoyed traveling the world, going to the movies, gathering with friends, family and were big Patriots fans!

Lois had a love for life and was the life of the party. With her great sense of humor, curiosity, beautiful smile and bright shining blue eyes twinkling with mischievousness. Family and friends were very important to her. She loved seeing the people she loved happy and believed in living life to the fullest, while having fun and always learning new things.

Lois was predeceased by her mother Merrian Dow Young, father Harold J. Eastman and step-mother Arlene Eastman, husband Clarence Barrett, son James Barrett, grandson Joshua Barrett, her daughter-in-law Kathleen Barrett, brother David Eastman, niece Jenny Morris and her 2nd husband Merwyn "Buzz" Hall.


Lois is survived by her son Jeffrey Barrett and his wife Lisa of Winchester, NH, daughter Janet (Barrett) Steeves and her husband John of Milford, NH; Her brother's Harold A. Eastman of St. Johnsbury, VT, John (Leann) Eastman of Lebanon NH, sister's, Terry (Tom) Kirrane of Bradenton FL and Cynthia (Mike) Morris of Quechee, VT. Kathy Lancaster of Columbus, NJ; Cheryl Young of Brownsmills, NJ: Two Step son's Douglas (Deborah) Hall of Cincinnati, Ohio and Bruce (Beth) of Sugar Land, Texas; one step daughter, Pamela (Mark) Twist of Belgrade, Maine ; ten grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be a graveside service with a tentative date of Saturday, September 4th, 2021 at 11:00am at the Hilltop Cemetery in Quechee VT. Please check back periodically or updates. End 68 Hours of Hunger provides bags of non-perishable food to children who face food insecurity at home over the weekends. The Amherst St school where she taught is currently their highest need school. They provide 82 food bags to them each week. In total, they provide around 375 food bags each week to 7 elementary schools, one Title 1 Preschool, and the Boys & Girls Club here in Nashua NH.
