Louis Phillip Blanchette, 77, of 12 Bear Point Road in Meredith died April 8, 2004 at Lakes Region General Hospital in Tilton following a courageous battle with lung cancer. Mr. Blanchette was born on January 26, 1927 in Lowell, MA the son of the late Ernest and Marie Lillian (Berard) Blanchette. He was a U S Navy veteran who served in World War II on Destroyer USS Laffey DD-724. He was recalled to serve in the Korean War in 1950 and served on the USS Purdy. Prior to retiring he was a builder in Dracut, MA and Lowell, MA and the surrounding areas. He resided in Dracut, MA prior to moving, retiring to his home in Meredith in 1994. He enjoyed the of outdoors, sailing, fishing, canoeing and his pontoon boat. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Lowell. Family members include; his wife, of 53 years, Georgianna (Aham) Blanchette; two sons, Phillip and his wife, Gail Blanchette of Wakefield, MA and Peter Blanchette of Meredith, NH; one daughter, Nancy Blanchette and fiancé Scott Walters of Lowell, MA; three brothers, Ernest and his wife, Rita Blanchette of Dracut, Paul and his wife Judy Blanchette of Lowell, MA and John and his wife Joanne Blanchette of Tyngsboro, MA; one sister, Claire Foner of Blaine, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews. At his request there will be no calling hours. Private burial services will be held at a later date. The Cremation Society of New Hampshire is in charge of arrangement.
