Louis Paul Gallerani, 90, died on February 24, 2026, in Nashua, New Hampshire, with the love of his life, Gail, by his side.

Lou was born on October 26, 1935, in Hartford, Connecticut, the son of Louis and Theresa Gallerani. He grew up in Windsor Locks, Connecticut, and graduated with a BS in electrical engineering from the University of Connecticut, where he was a member of Chi Phi fraternity. This was where he also met Gail. He asked her to help remove a sliver from his hand — the rest is history.

Lou and Gail were married on May 23, 1959, in Lexington, Massachusetts, and shared 66 years of marriage. They first lived in Burlington, Massachusetts, and later settled in Carlisle, where they made their home for 54 years. Summers were spent at their home on Cape Cod. Lou had beautiful vegetable gardens - growing more than needed and giving extra produce to neighbors and friends. He loved the outdoors. He and his family spent many hours in Estabrook Woods behind their home in Carlisle and walking along the many beaches on the Cape.

Lou worked as an electrical engineer at Raytheon for his career, traveling widely for his work. He also earned an MS in electrical engineering from Northeastern University. Retirement suited Lou well. He and Gail travelled extensively visiting relatives in Italy and experiencing many different cultures. A mountain bike from Paul and Elise and a table-saw from Raytheon set the stage for his favorite pastimes: biking, woodworking, winemaking, and kayaking. For 20 years he volunteered two days a week at Middlesex Community College, a role that brought him pride and lasting friendships. He found great purpose in helping his students succeed.

Lou is survived by his wife, Gail; his daughter, Elise Gallerani Lawson, and her husband, Philip Lawson; his son, Paul Gallerani, and his wife, Jennifer Smith Gallerani; and his three grandchildren, Thomas Gallerani, Alexandra Lawson, and Meghan Gallerani. He also leaves his cat, Lily, who misses him dearly.

Lou will be remembered for the love of his family, his generosity, his knowledge of history, and his sense of humor and smile.

Services will be private for the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Animal Rescue League of Boston or your favorite charity.
