Louise V. Barry, 95, of Kingston, NH died peacefully February 20, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.
Louise was born on January 21, 1928, in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, the daughter of the late Lambertus and Maartje Verheyden. She and her husband of 62 years, Wilson lived and raised their children in Princeton, NJ and Andover, MA before moving to Brentwood, NH. Louise was a psychotherapist educated at Rutgers University, the University of Connecticut and Smith College. She taught at the Boston College of Social Work and Boston University. In 1983 she was presented with an award from the Massachusetts Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers for "Greatest Contribution to Social Work Practice".
Louise is survived by four children, Marta L. Poleatewich and her husband William of Brentwood, NH; Chris F. Barry and his wife Linda of Spring, TX; Paul H. Barry and his wife Deborah of Charlotte, NC; Nancy E. Murphy and her husband Robert of Epping, NH; daughter-in-law Linda F. Barry of Gilford, NH; thirteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews in the United States and The Netherlands. She was predeceased by her husband Wilson Barry, sons Robert V. Barry and Peter M. Barry, her brother Bob Verheyden, sisters Eleanora Verheyden and Ada Wildeman.
Louise was the heart and soul of her family and will be remembered for sharing her many lifelong stories, supporting her family in all their endeavors, her love for flowers and her gardens and the ocean, her counseling, teaching and her love for her family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Christ Church, 43 Pine Street, Exeter, NH, 03833, on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at 10:30am. Interment immediately afterwards, at the Tonry Cemetery, Brentwood, NH. The Cremation Society of New Hampshire is assisting the family with arrangements.
