Louise (Davis) Corrette, 95, passed from this life into Heaven on Sept. 22, 2022, while at home surrounded by her family. Born March 29, 1927, she was the middle daughter of the late Louis Davis and Priscilla (Twombly) Davis. Louise grew up in Reading, Mass., graduating from Reading Memorial High School - Class of 1944. Although she was shy, she made the choice to be active in various clubs and activities like writing for the yearbook, sewing costumes for the play, singing in Glee Club, and selling war bonds for World War II. All the kids in town enjoyed time at Torre’s soda fountain after school, including Mrs. Corrette. She also made a point to attend all of her high school reunions up until the 70th in 2014.
Louise continued her education in 1948 by attending Westbrook Junior College in Maine, graduating with a secretarial degree in 1950. She loved to travel and enjoyed trips to Hawaii and Bermuda. Louise returned to Reading and worked at Reading Co-Operative Bank. Louise was loyal and devoted to her family and was the favorite auntie to her 12 nieces and nephews, whom she often babysat.
In 1960, Louise moved with her parents to a farm in Francestown, N.H. She loved Francestown, especially Scoby Pond and the annual Labor Day celebration. She worked as a secretary at New Hampshire Ball Bearings where she would meet the love of her life Robert J. Corrette. They secretly eloped March 14, 1964, to St. Petersburg, N.Y. The couple then settled in Fitzwilliam, N.H., buying Robert’s family home. The Correttes started a family, welcoming daughters Lisa and Leigh. Her children were the lights of her life, and she would sacrifice so they could have things. She loved being home to raise her children, and she volunteered at their school.
Louise was in her glory once her four grandchildren were born. She enjoyed nothing more than spending time with them and watching them grow. She celebrated each milestone with them and beamed with pride at each of their high school graduations.
Louise was an avid amateur photographer and was rarely seen without her “brownie” in hand. She chronicled the lives of several generations and captured the family’s most treasured memories. She shared her love of photography with her nieces and nephews, two whom eventually became professional photographers. In addition to photography, in her spare time Louise enjoyed books, old movies, and movie stars. She loved getting People magazine and reading it from cover to cover. She also stayed informed about the world by reading Time, Newsweek, and The Keene Sentinel. She would cut out articles to share with others if it was a topic they were interested in. She collected Shirley Temple, Betty Boop, and Snow White memorabilia. Louise also had a soft spot for animals, caring for many pets over the years.
Once her children were older, Louise worked at various companies in various capacities over the years including Brookstone, and lastly C.R. Bard in Fitzwilliam for 10 years.
She leaves her husband of 58 years, Robert J. Corrette; her daughters, Lisa Livingstone and her husband Paul of Raynham, Mass., and Leigh F. Corrette of Fitzwilliam, N.H.; and her grandchildren, Kimberly Louise Livingstone and fiancé Pattarapon Siwapornchai, and Kristen, James, and Jennifer Livingstone.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters Virginia McGlynn and Priscilla Clark.
Mrs. Corrette was cared for at her home over the past year by her caregiver Linda Weeks. The family also thanks Fitzwilliam Fire & EMS for all their visits and help, along with hospice.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to The Fitzwilliam Fire & EMS Association, 4 Church St., Fitzwilliam, NH 03447; or to The Fitzwilliam Community Church, 85 N.H. Route 119W, Fitzwilliam, NH 03447.
