Lucien W. Gentes, 77, of 67 Oak Street, Newport, NH, died at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, on February 3, 2010. He was born September 19, 1932, the oldest son of Oscar and Roseanna Gentes, in Newport, NH. He was raised in Newport, graduating from Towle High School. He married Beverly Ann Wentzell in March 1955 at the Church of the Good Shepherd, upon his return from service in Korea. He devoted his life to his family, his country and God. He was predeceased by his wife, Beverly, in 1999; his son Todd in 1997, and an infant daughter, Michelle. Members of his surviving family include two sons, Lucian Gentes of Newport and Mark Gentes of Unity; a daughter, RoseAnn Gentes-Soulia of Newport; four brothers, Rollin Gentes of Nebraska, Armand Gentes of North Carolina, Adrian Gentes of Florida and Andre Gentes of Florida, and two sisters, Annette Piper of Derry, NH and Yvette Walsh of Manchester, NH; a daughter in law, Judi Gentes of Keene, NH; four grandchildren, Matthew and Lucien Gentes and Rebecca and Jeremy Soulia, nieces, nephews and cousins. Committal Services and Military Honors will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 10th, at the New Hampshire State Veterans' Cemetery in Boscawen, NH, followed by Church Services at 1:30 p.m. at The Church of the Good Shepherd, Newport NH, Reverend Dwight Haynes officiating, and a tribute by the Newport American Legion Post # 25 on the Newport Common, with Reception/Refreshments at 3:00 p.m. at the Newport Senior Center, where Lucien's art work, service medals, and reflections by the family will be displayed.
