Lucille G. Bouchard, 87, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2022 with her daughter tending to her in their home in Raymond, New Hampshire.
Lucille was born on August 16, 1935 in Manchester, New Hampshire to Bertrand and Bernadette (Vaudreuil) Pinsonneault. She completed grades K-12 in Manchester, graduating from St Marie’s High School in 1953. In December of that same year, she married Alfred J. Bouchard, a United States Marine. Over the following 28 years of his service to our country, she travelled to wherever he was stationed, supporting him while he was overseas and single-handedly raising their three children during his deployments.
In 1974, Alfred and Lucille were stationed back in Manchester where they purchased their first home, continuing together to raise their family. By reconnecting with their extended family and friends, their children were able to settle into the area and plant roots. In the late 1970s, both Alfred and Lucille attended NH College (SNHU), taking courses opposite nights while still raising their two youngest children. Alfred retired from the service in 1981 and began a second career as the food service director in Londonderry while Lucille enjoyed employment as a manager at Gosselin's Pharmacy. They both fully retired in 1996.
In 1997, they decided to relocate for the winter months, purchasing a second home in Maui, Hawaii to be near their two adult sons and their families. They summered in New Hampshire, spending time with their daughter and her family. In 2010, they decided to relocate again, selling their Maui home and purchasing their next home in The Villages, Florida, while continuing to summer in New Hampshire. Upon Alfred's passing in 2014, Lucille sold their Florida home and stayed in New Hampshire year round. In 2018, she moved into an in-law apartment in her daughter's home in Raymond, taking pride in her self-sufficiency.
She worked in a variety of settings in her career, including housekeeping at a hospital, at an ice cream parlor, at Woolworth’s, clerical work in the Manchester Millyard, waitressing, E & R Cleaners, Mail Sorter at the United States Postal Service, office management for four psychiatrists, and as a retail store manager at Gosselin’s Pharmacy for almost two decades. Upon retirement, she occasionally volunteered her time at her daughter and son-in-law’s self-serve laundromat and stated to her granddaughter that it “was the best job that I ever had.”
As a loving sister, wife, mother, aunt, Memere and Great Mem, what she valued most was spending time with her family. She was self-motivated, flexible and easygoing, had a loving and respectful personality and always tried to make the best of any situation. Her favorite musicians were Frank Sinatra, Perry Como, Dean Martin and Elvis Presley, all of which she enjoyed well into her later adult years.
