Lucille Therese Boutin

Lucille “Lou” Therese Boutin, cherished mother, grandmother, and a beloved friend to many, passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 98 on January 22, 2025, at River Woods Memory Care Community in Manchester, NH. Born on May 6, 1926, in Lawrence, MA, Lucille was the daughter of Pamphile Beaudoin and Rose (Valcourt) Beaudoin. At the tender age of five, her family moved to Craftsbury, VT, where she would later graduate from Craftsbury Academy in 1944.

Lucille's professional journey began as a telephone operator before she pursued training as an X-Ray technician at Mary Hitchcock Hospital in Burlington, VT. She spent the majority of her career as a long-time X-Ray technician and department supervisor at Keene Clinic, where she formed lifelong friendships with her colleagues. Lucille's dedication and compassion were evident not only in her work but also in her daily interactions with those around her. She always made time to look in on her neighbors.

On a fateful blind date, Lucille met Arthur Boutin, and within three short months, they wed on September 3, 1949, in Hardwick, VT. They enjoyed each other’s company for 65 years. They especially enjoyed vacationing in Wells, Maine, and visiting family in Vermont and Colorado.

An avid and talented knitter, Lucille enjoyed crafting intricate sweaters and afghans for her children and grandsons, in addition to creating hats and mittens for those in need. Her skills extended beyond knitting; she was also a talented seamstress and could often be found baking, reading, solving crossword puzzles, playing Bananagrams or enjoying the beach. Perhaps most importantly, Lucille cherished her family time, spending joyful moments with her daughters and sons-in-law, grandsons, and great-grandchildren.

Lucille is survived by her daughters, Michele Boutin and her husband Paul Doherty of Merrimack, NH, and Suzanne Anderson and her husband Jim Anderson of Manchester, NH. She leaves behind her grandsons, Steven Doherty and his wife Sayre Ellis of North Carolina, Jeffrey Doherty and his wife Bridgette of Andover, MA, and Kevin Anderson and his wife Thisakya Nishela of Sri Lanka. Also bonus grandchildren, James C. Anderson and his wife Melissa and Heather Neuman and her husband Chuck. She took immense pride in her great-grandchildren: Bryan, Cole, Evelyn, and Fiona Doherty. Lucille is also survived by her sister Lorraine Snydal and her husband Rod of Colorado, along with many nieces and nephews and bonus great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Arthur Boutin, as well as her brothers and sisters-in-law, Adrien Beaudoin and wife Rita Ames, and Albert Beaudoin and wife Ellen Beaudoin. Lucille also mourned the loss of her sister Irene Beliveau and her husband Francis.

The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the staff at River Woods, particularly those in the Memory Care Unit, for their dedicated and compassionate care, as well as to Brookhaven Hospice for the support they provided during Lucille's last year.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a memorial contribution to the Employee Appreciation Fund at River Woods, 100 Alliance Way, Manchester, NH 03102
